International and Travel Health Insurance

Coverage for medical care outside your home country, whether you are traveling abroad, welcoming family to the U.S. or living overseas.

Why It Matters

Many U.S. health plans offer limited coverage outside the country, or none at all. In most cases, Original Medicare does not pay for care you get outside the U.S. Family visiting from another country usually has no coverage here. An international or travel medical plan can help pay for care after a sudden illness or injury away from home.

Good to Know Before You Buy

  • Different from your plan at home:

Travel and visitor plans cover a set period and have set benefit limits. They are not Marketplace plans and do not replace a full health plan.

  • Health conditions you already have:

Many plans limit or exclude care for conditions you had before the plan starts. We go over those details with you before you buy.

  • Start dates:

Coverage begins on the start date shown on your plan, not before. Plan ahead so it is in place when you need it.

  • Getting care:

Many plans have a help line and a network of doctors and hospitals. Keep your plan details with you while you are away.
